Type Locality and Naming
Jiaolai Basin. The Zhifengzhuang Formation was named by the No 1 Petroleum Exploration Team in 1962. The type locality is in Zhifengzhuang of the Longwangzhuang Town, Laimo of Shandong. The type section is the south Zhifengzhuang section in Laiyang (120°51’, 36°58').
Synonym: Zhifengshan Fm
Lithology and Thickness
The Zhifengzhuang Formation is a group of purple red, purple grey ad yellowish green coarse-grained breccias feldspar-rich sandstone, sandy conglomerate, with intercalations of yellowish green siltstone and shale.

Lower contact
The Zhifengzhuang Formation conformably overlies the Linshishan Fm.
Upper contact
The Zhifengzhuang Formation conformably underlines the Shuinan Fm or Yanjiazhuang Fm.
